Face allograft transplantation is now a reality (Siemionow, Clin Plast Surg ;39(4):425, 2012; Devauchelle et al., Lancet 368(9531):203-209, 2006; Siemionow et al., Plast Reconstr Surg 125(1):111-122, 2010; Siemionow et al., Lancet 374(9685):203-209, 2009).The number of patients receiving facial allografts are getting more and more each day so there is no necessity to mention the number up-to-date. We believe that, one important point to mention is that the majority of face transplantations are performed to complex defects of the face and facial skeleton in other words “viscerocranium”. © Springer-Verlag London 2015.en_US
