The Effect of Distance Education on the Physical Activity and Nutrition Levels of Nursing Students: The First Year of the Pandemic Period
Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the effect of remote learning applied in the first year of the pandemic on the physical activity and nutrition levels of nursing students. Material and Method: This descriptive study was conducted between May 1st and October 31st, 2021 with 569 nursing students studying at a state university in Istanbul (N=1050). The data of the study were collected using the Collected with Personal Information Form, International Physical Activity Survey, Nutrition-Exercise Behavior Scale, evaluated using percentage distribution, mean, Wilcoxon test, Mann Whitney U, and Kruskal Wallies test. Results: When the total and sub-dimension mean scores of the students on the nutrition-exercise behavior scale were compared with the period and before the pandemic, it was found that the mean score received from the “unhealthy nutrition-exercise behavior” sub-dimension decreased during the pandemic period (p Amaç: Bu çalismanin amaci pandeminin ilk yilinda uygulanan uzaktan egitimin, hemsirelik ögrencilerinin fiziksel aktivite ve beslenme düzeylerine olan etkisini belirlemektir.
